Jess Darling made me die of LAUGHTER from start to end. I know this series has been popular for years now, and I am embarrassed to admit that I am just coming around it. But, at least I can admit that I am a MAJOR FAN NOW. I really loved her journal entries. Her friendship with Hope is honestly the most sweetest I have ever seen. I love how the book, despite being old school, is so realistic when it comes to high school issues. Menstruation issues, body image, bullying, drug overdose, toxic friendships, college decisions. All issues that many students have to deal with. Jess is a girl who finds herself to be more quirky and abnormal compared to the other classmates. Her relationship with her mom is quite strained, because of how different Jess is compared to her picture-perfect sister. Her father, on the other hand, gives a little TOO much attention, putting all the pressure of being a record-breaking runner. I LOVE MARCUS. I knew he was going to be an important character in Jess’ life. Their late night phone calls are what I live for. As for Scotty, ugh, he’s making me question the whole “golden-boy jock” vibe, and whether they’re really all that great to swoon over. As for Bridget, I felt bad for her at the end. That Burke guy really needs some help. But yeah, I’m done rambling now, go read this haha.
